Following a stint in the US Navy working as an Air Traffic Controller, Chris began working in the family business manufacturing marine propulsion control systems for the commercial marine industry. Mathers Controls Inc, located in the Seattle area, was instrumental in the development, manufacture, and sales of innovative propulsion control system for the marine industry. Applications consisted of harbor tugs, offshore supply vessels, crew boats, fishing vessels, inland water tow boats, and ferries. In 1987, following several years of development, Mathers Controls introduced the Mathers MicroCommander Control (MMC). This is an advanced electronic control specifically developed for the pleasure marine industry. The control system featured multi station, single lever control of clutch and throttle, automatic control sequencing and options for automatic engine synchronization and integrated trolling valve control. The product was designed as a lower cost, high production system intended for use on pleasure yachts ranging in size from 30' to 120'. Mathers Controls and the MicroCommander system, pioneered the development and success of the electronic control system which is the standard today for most new construction yacht applications. Mathers Controls Inc sold to ZF Marine in 2001 and continues to maintain an international presence in the marine control industry. Chris has owned and operated boats his entire life and currently holds a United States Coast Guard Captains License. In addition to boating, hobbies include Sport Fishing, Game Bird Hunting, Alpine Skiing, and Performance Sports Car Driving. As a Marine Surveyor Chris is a 2002 graduate of the Havorn Marine Survey & Shipwright School and a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) and The American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).
